At GeekCentral (ComicCon 2013) (RONJA KOEPKE SUCCESS DIARY)
What. A. Total. Geek. Fest.
And it's awesome!
I've been fortunate enough to be able to go to - and participate in this years ComicCon in San Diego. For those of you who don't know, it's one of the biggest and geekiest festivals and exhibits on the planet - and this years convention is said to attract over a 140.000 people. It's huge, it's winding, it's crazy and sometimes scary. Met so many monsters and demons, knights and warriors that you somehow think you're in another world.
The reason why I was able to go was because of something even crazier actually. My friend Ronja Koepke and her movie "At The End" had a screening yesterday at the international film festival here. They opened up the entire Sci-Fi block of the festival and did a formidable Q&A afterwards.
Some 40-60 people attended the event that you can only describe as a huge success. Ronja's performance throughout the movie is heart gripping and it's as easy to connect with her on screen as it is to connect with her in real life. The movie, which was made last year by FSU student Jason Whitmore, follows a couple's last days on Earth in the wake of the threat of a supernova. Salvation is offered through the help of aliens who will let people live if they become their slaves, but what kind of a life is that? It deals with, and raises a lot of questions about our choices as humans. Is it better to live as slaves or die free? What would you sacrifice for the one you love?
But perhaps describing it, and Ronja's performance even better than me is this article that was posted about her in the wake of her screening.
I couldn't be prouder of my friend and KNOW that more things like this just lie ahead!
Don't be a stranger! Loves
